Consistent, reliable AI reviews

I've been using CodeRabbit for about six months now for our team's pull requests. This last month's experience with the Automated Code Review feature was just as solid as previous cycles. The line-by-line suggestions were helpful, as always, and it catches those little things we sometimes miss. It integrates well with our existing GitHub setup. It's why I keep coming back; it simply works without much fuss, making our review process smoother every time. I paid for the annual plan this time around, saved a bit.

Does CodeRabbit integrate with GitLab? We're not on GitHub and some tools only really support that.

J James 1 month ago
Yep, it does! I use it with GitLab all the time. It integrates pretty seamlessly with your existing repos there.

Confirmed, GitLab integration is definitely a thing. Bitbucket too, if anyone else was wondering.

Is it safe to use this for private company code? Like, does it train its AI on our code and potentially expose our secrets?

B Ben Nguyen 2 months ago
They explicitly state that they don't train their AI on your private code. It's in their FAQ somewhere. They also say they are SOC2 compliant, which is a good sign for security.

Nah, they're pretty clear about not using your data for training. That was a big concern for us too, but they seem to have that locked down. It's safe.

I'm a student working on a side project, could I get some kind of student discount for this? Or is it only for like, big enterprise teams?

P Phil P. 2 months ago
I believe they do offer a student discount! You usually have to verify your student status, though. Check their FAQs or contact their sales team, they're usually pretty helpful.

Yes, they do! I got one last semester for a university project. Just had to fill out a form and prove I was a student. Made it much more affordable.

Is there any way to get a discount for this? I saw something about a free trial but my team is pretty small and budget is always tight for dev tools.

F Faith G. 1 month ago
They have a 14-day free trial for sure, you can just sign up on their site. I think there might be a startup program too, so if you're a new company, maybe check that out.

If your project is open source, it's totally free! Otherwise, switching to annual billing saves you 20%, which helps. I don't think they do a ton of general promo codes floating around, mostly just direct stuff.

Thinking of trying this out for my dev team. How does it stack up against something like SonarQube? Are they pretty similar or totally different beasts?

R Rachel 2 months ago
From what I gather, SonarQube is more about static analysis and code quality metrics, while CodeRabbit focuses more on AI-powered, context-aware code review during the PR process. They kinda complement each other, but CodeRabbit is definitely more hands-on with suggestions for every line.

Yeah, I use both actually. CodeRabbit is great for immediate feedback on PRs, almost like another pair of eyes. SonarQube is more for overall project health and catching bigger, architectural issues. Different strengths, imo.
